Rajaram Rajendran is a Bangalore based filmmaker, musician, motorcycle builder and a Multimedia Artist.
What originally made you want to become interested in your media?
Love towards design and creating something. And hatred towards a career in engineering
How would you describe your approach to design?
Modular. I figure out an overall style, then design one part at a time. Then re-work parts that doesn’t fit well with the overall design. It’s a process
What has been the biggest influence on your style?
The old days. FWA, Ultrashock forums, etc. After that just adaptations, small evolution.
What would you say is your strong skill and how did you master it?
Patience. Going further than the first 3 ideas that come to mind at the start of a project. Haven’t mastered it yet.
What type of project do you enjoy working the most?
The type with money (heh). Seriously though, the kind that is not templated or comes with super-restricted guidelines.
Do you have any rules that you believe in when it comes to your art?
Not really. The only real belief is that “this looks good in my opinion, but of course, till my opinion changes next year”
What is the best piece of advice that you have heard?
Err… “talk less, do more” I guess.
What can you tell future artists?
Develop taste. Don’t focus on the software themselves and all the tiny features and niggles. That will come with experience. Focus on the developing your taste and sense of aesthetics. Constantly. There really is no end to it.
What is your personal motto?
Create something everyday. An image, artwork, a film, a song, anything. But something everyday. Still trying to achieve that though.
